Al Qaeda-linked jihadists accused of hanging victims on crosses

  • Photos taken in the northern Syria town of Raqqa Tuesday appear to show executed men being hung in public, crucifixion-style. (Courtesy: Raqqa is being Slaughtered Silently)
Al Qaeda-backed jihadists are hanging the bodies of executed enemies on crosses crucifixion-style in a town in Northern Syria, according to a Syrian opposition group.
The executions reportedly took place Tuesday in Raqqa, where the extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, an Al Qaeda-linked network, has taken over the city, according to Abu Ibrahim Alrquaoui, who identifies himself as a founder of a group called Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently.
“It’s very dangerous. They threaten us directly and want to kill us.”
- Ibrahim Alrquaoui, Syrian dissident
Alrquaoui said those killed were rebels that had previously fought against the Syrian government of Bashir al-Assad. “It’s very dangerous,” Alrquaoui, told FoxNews.com in an interview. “They threaten us directly and want to kill us.”
Alrquaoui said he witnessed the executions himself, and took photographs that have since been posted on the group’s Facebook page, and are now being circulated on the Internet.
The series of photographs show different men bound to crosses in what appears to be a public square area, though it could not be independently confirmed that the subjects were dead or, if they were, by what means the executions had been carried out. The pictures do not show any apparent signs of the men nailed to a cross, nor are there any obvious, visible signs of fatal wounds.
ISIS has ruled over Raqqa for the last year, killing its remaining rebel population and demolishing national relics, according to multiple reports. “They want to stay in control.  Everything they do is to scare people,” Alrquaoui said. “That’s why they kill people publicly.”
Jihadists operating in Syria have previously been accused of shooting people in the head, then affixing them to crosses. In this latest case, the ISIS charged the seven men with espionage and attempted assassination of the group’s leaders, according to Alrquaoui.
Many Syrian cities like Raqqa have fallen into the hands of Islamic terrorists. More than 150,000 people have died since the civil war began in March 2011.

Microsoft Warns About Internet Explorer Attack

Image
Yesterday, Microsoft issued a Security Advisory concerning an Internet Explorer attack that could allow an RCE (remote code execution) vulnerability. At this point, Microsoft has not released a security patch, so an update won’t solve the problem. While Microsoft is preparing a security patch, they’ve provided a list of workarounds “would help block known attack vectors before a security update is available.” (SeeMicrosoft Security Advisory 2963983).
According to the security advisory,
“Microsoft is aware of limited, targeted attacks that attempt to exploit a vulnerability in Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10, and Internet Explorer 11.”
An RCE (remote code execution) attack can be launched against a vulnerability the moment you lode a website, even if you don’t download anything on your computer. There are no obvious signs, so a cybercriminal can attack your computer through malicious software, and you may not even be aware of if. This is particularly serious if you have a Windows XP computer because Microsoft is no longer providing updates for XP.
At this point, MIcrosoft has only detected limited, targeted Internet Explorer attacks.
  • Deploy the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 4.1
  • Set Internet and Local intranet security zone settings to “High” to block ActiveX Controls and Active Scripting in these zones
  • Configure Internet Explorer to prompt before running Active Scripting or to disable Active Scripting in the Internet and Local intranet security zone
  • Unregister VGX.DLL
  • Modify the Access Control List on VGX.DLL to be more restrictive
  • Enable Enhanced Protected Mode For Internet Explorer 11 and Enable 64-bit Processes for Enhanced Protected Mode
For specifics on setting the workarounds in place visit the Microsoft Advisory site.

Putin Signs Laws For Citizenship, Migrant Laborers

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed laws simplifying procedures for Russian speakers in the former Soviet Union to obtain Russian citizenship and on obligations for migrant laborers working in Russia.

According to ITAR-TASS on April 21, the law on citizenship makes it possible for any Russian-speaking person "who has consistently been living, or has relatives who have consistently been living or earlier were living on the territory of the Russian Federation, including the territory of the Russian Empire or USSR," to obtain Russian citizenship.

The law promises the procedure for receiving citizenship is simpler and faster than before.

Another law Putin signed obligates migrant laborers to know the Russian language, Russian history, and the basic facts about Russian laws.

Migrants must prove such knowledge when applying to extend their residency permits in Russia.

Jews Ordered to Register or Face Deportation

DONETSK, EASTERN UKRAINE (ANS) -- U.S. officials Thursday denounced what one called a “grotesque” leaflet ordering Jews in one eastern Ukrainian city to register with a government office, but the Jewish community there dismissed it as a “provocation.”
The flier demanding the Jews to register their nationality or face deportation (Photo: Olga Reznikova in Ynetnews).
According to a story by CNN, the fliers were handed out by masked men in front of the main synagogue in Donetsk, where pro-Russian protesters have declared a “People's Republic,” Jewish leaders there said.
The document warned the city's Jews to register and document their property or face deportation.
According to a story by Michal Margalit for Ynetnews.com, a translation of the flier began by saying, “Dear Ukraine citizens of Jewish nationality, due to the fact that the leaders of the Jewish community of Ukraine supported Bendery Junta,”( a reference to Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement which fought for Ukrainian independence at the end of World War II) “and oppose the pro-Slavic People's Republic of Donetsk, (the interim government) has decided that all citizens of Jewish descent, over 16 years of age and residing within the republic's territory are required to report to the Commissioner for Nationalities in the Donetsk Regional Administration building and register.”

Ynet said the leaflet detailed what type of documents the Jewish citizens would need to supply, “ID and passport are required to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles.”

The flier laid out the consequences for those who failed to obey the new requirements. “Evasion of registration will result in citizenship revoke (sic) and you will be forced outside the country with a confiscation of property.”

The flier also demanded that Jews pay a registration fee of $50.
Geoffrey Pyatt, the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, told CNN's “The Lead with Jake Tapper” that a respected Jewish leader in Ukraine showed him a photograph of one of the fliers. He called the document “chilling.”
And in Geneva, where diplomats held emergency talks on the Ukrainian crisis, CNN said U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called the leaflets “grotesque” and “beyond unacceptable.”
However, CNN said, the Jewish community statement said relations between the Jews of Donetsk and their neighbors were amicable, and the self-proclaimed head of the “People's Republic,” Denis Pushilin, denied any connection to the fliers.

Cardinal Bergoglio Backed Wojtyla’s Cause for Sainthood

Image

Italian journalist Stefania Falasca talks to Catholic newspaper “Avvenire” about the statement given in 2005 for John Paul II’s cause for canonization: “His death is an example”

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was among those who okayed John Paul II’s canonization. It was 2005 when the then cardinal and archbishop of Buenos Aires gave his solemn statement as an eye witness at the Roman process for John Paul II’s beatification and canonization cause. Italian journalist, Stefania Falasca, discusses this in an article published by Catholic newspaperAvvenire.
“The diocesan inquiry ordered in 2005, just a few months after Wojtyla’s death, was concluded just two years later, on 2 April 2007,” Falasca said. “Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who was 69 at the time, was called by Rome’s diocesan tribunal to give a statement at the start of the process in autumn 2005.”
Here are the memories Bergoglio has of Wojtyla: “I met John Paul II in person in December of the year when Cardinal Martini was nominated Archbishop of Milan. I don’t remember the exact year. On that occasion, I recited the Rosary guided by the Servant of God and I got the distinct impression that he “was praying for real”.
“The second time I met the Pope was between 1986-87 during the second trip he paid to Argentina  and the Nuncio wanted me to meet the Servant of God in the Nunciature with a group of Christians of different denominations. I had a brief conversation with the Holy Father and what struck me above all about him this time was the look in his eye. It was the look of a good man.”
The third time the future Pope Francis met with John Paul II was in 1994 when Bergoglio was “auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires” and was “elected by the Argentinean Bishops’ Conference to take part in the Synod of Bishops on consecrated life, held here in Rome. I had the joy of lunching with him and a group of prelates. I was especially taken with his approachability, his friendliness and his ability to listen to each of his dining companions. In the two subsequent Synods I took part in, I was able to appreciate his great ability to listen to others, even further.”
His eagerness to listen became all the more evident in the personal conversations I had in time with the Servant of God. He didn’t ask any questions, a part from one or two at the end. Above all, he made it patently clear he had no prejudices whatsoever. In this way, he put everyone he came into contact with at ease, gaining their complete trust; at least this is the feeling you got when you spoke to him. Although I am speaking from my own personal experience, I am glad to see that many of my confreres feel the same way. The impression the Servant of God gave, was that even when he didn’t fully agree with what he was being told, he didn’t let on, in order to make the person feel at ease; then, if he had any observations he wanted to make or questions he wished to ask in order to clarify any points, he did so at the end.
There is also one other aspect “that has always struck me about the Holy Father”: “His memory almost had no bounds; he was able to remember places, people and situations he had got to know during his trips, a sign that he paid the utmost attention on every occasion and especially towards the people he met. This to me is a sign of true and great charity. He never usually wasted time but he did dedicated a lot of time to bishops when he received them in meetings for example. I say this from experience because when I was archbishop of Buenos Aires I had a number of personal private meetings with the Servant of God and being a bit shy and reserved myself, I got up to take my leave on at least one occasion having told him what I had come to tell him in a given audience, so as not to waste any more of his time,  at least what I perceived to be wasting time. But he took me by the arm and invited me to sit down again, saying: “No! No! No! Stay” so we could continue talking.”
Bergoglio then revealed “one memory I have in particular of the Servant of God, from the time of my visit ad limina with the Argentinean bishops in 2002. One day we concelebrated with the Holy Father and what struck me was the way in which he prepared the celebration. He was kneeling down, praying in the private Chapel and I saw that from time to time he would read something from a piece of paper he had in front of him, put his head in his hands and he was clearly praying for something with great intensity, something I believe was an intention he had written down on that piece of paper; he would then go back and read something else on the piece of paper and pray again and so on and so forth, until he had finished; he then got up to put on his vestments.  As confirmation of what I have just said, I can also refer something that the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, told me and that is that when he presented the list of proposals for bishops serving in particularly difficult dioceses with problems, before signing, he would ask to have the list so he could meditate and pray for a while and decide.

Young Christian Man Killed for Not Converting to Islam

LAHORE, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- Haroon, 22, was shot and killed for his faith by a Muslim co-worker.
According to a news release from the advocacy group the Center for Legal Aid and Settlement in the UK (CLAAS), Haroon had recently started work in Lahore as a road sweeper, where he worked alongside Muslim security guard Umer Farooq.
Farooq mocked Haroon's Christian faith on a daily basis and tried to persuade him to convert to Islam. He told Haroon he was good looking, and should embrace Islam.
Farooq also promised Haroon a prosperous life and marriage to a rich Muslim woman, but Haroon did not care about these things and refused to convert.

When Haroon told his father what was going on, he advised him to ignore Farooq. On April 16 2014 Haroon went to work. Farooq again started a conversation about religion and began pressurizing him to embrace Islam.
CLAAS said Haroon asked Farooq politely why he was so keen for him to convert.

Harroon refused to convert, saying he was a follower of Jesus Christ. Farooq then shot Haroon, with a bullet hitting him the head, killing him on the spot. He later started shouting that Haroon had attempted suicide.

The police took the security guard into custody immediately. However, the news release from CLAAS stated, “(They) did not register an FIR (First Information Report), because they wanted to convert the murder case into suicide.”
When the local Christians heard about the murder they staged a protest in front of the police station. An FIR was then filed.
Farooq is currently in custody and his case under investigation.

Nasir Saeed, Director CLAAS-UK, has condemned the killing.

He said in the news release, “Recently we have seen a report ... that 1000 Christian and Hindu girls are being forcibly converted to Islam, while there are also incidents where young boys and some men are also forced to convert to Islam, and if they refused they are killed and implicated in false cases.”

Saeed added, “The situation (continues) because of the government inactions. If people involved in such crimes are brought to justice, then it can act as a deterrent, but instead they are being encouraged by local religious leaders, imams and madrasahs.”
He said that the main reason for such crimes is growing religious intolerance and hate against minorities.

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina - Ave Maria

The Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary

 A Sermon by St. Bernard

The Martyrdom of the Virgin is set before us, not only in the prophecy of Simeon, but also in the story itself of the Lord's Passion.  The holy old man said of the Child Jesus: Behold, this Child is set for the fall and the rising again of many  in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; yea (said he unto Mary), a sword shall pierce through thine own soul also.  Even so, O Blessed Mother!  The sword did indeed pierce through thy soul! for nought could pierce the Body of thy Son, nor pierce thy soul likewise.  Yea, and when this Jesus of thine had given up the ghost, and the bloody spear could torture him no more, thy soul winced as it pierced his dead side―his own Soul might leave him, but thine could not.

The sword of sorrow pierced through thy soul, so that we may truly call thee more than martyr, in whom the love, that made thee suffer along with thy Son, wrung thy heart more bitterly than any pang of bodily pain could do.  Did not that word of his indeed pierce through thy soul, sharper than any two-edged sword, even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit: Woman, behold thy son!  O what a change to thee!  Thou art given John for Jesus, the servant for his Lord, the disciple for his Master, the son of Zebedee for the Son of God, a mere man for Very God.  O how keenly must the hearing of those words have pierced through thy most loving soul, when even our hearts, stony, iron, as they are, are wrung at the memory thereof only!

Marvel not, my brethren, that Mary should be called a Martyr in spirit.  He indeed may marvel who remembereth not what Paul saith, naming the greater sins of the Gentiles, that they were without natural affection.  Far other were the bowels of Mary, and far other may those of her servants be!  But some man perchance will say: Did she not hope that he was soon to rise again?  Yea, she most faithfully hoped it.  And did she still mourn because he was crucified?  Yea, bitterly.  But who art thou, my brother, or whence hast thou such wisdom, to marvel less that the Son of Mary suffered than that Mary suffered with him?  He could die in the Body, and could not she die with him in her heart?  His was the deed of that Love, greater than which hath no man, hers, of a love, like to which hath no man, save he.

PALM SUNDAY - TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS PROPERS

             PALM SUNDAY

THE BLESSING OF PALMS

Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! O king of Israel, hosanna in the highest!

O Lord, bless these branches of palm. Grant that the sincere devotion of Your people may make them victorious over their enemy and zealous in works of mercy, and thus spiritually complete the ceremony which they outwardly perform this day in Your honor. Through Our Lord . . .

THE DISTRIBUTION OF PALMS

THE READING OF THE GOSPEL (Matt. 21:1-9)

At that time, And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then Jesus sent two disciples, Saying to them: "Go ye into the village that is over against you: and immediately you shall find an ass tied and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to me. And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye that the Lord hath need of them. And forthwith he will let them go." Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "Tell ye the daughter of Sion: 'Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and a colt, the foal of her that is used to the yoke.' "
And the disciples going, did as Jesus commanded them. And they brought the ass and the colt and laid their garments upon them and made him sit thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut boughs from the trees and strewed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before and that followed cried, saying: "Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest."

THE PROCESSION

O Lord Jesus Christ, our King and redeemer, in Your honor we carry these branches and sing these solemn praises. Let Your blessing, we pray You, descend on any place to which these branches are carried, and may Your right hand shield from all wickedness and deception of the devil those whom You have redeemed; who lives and rules with God the Father . . .

THE MASS

DOUBLE, FIRST CLASS / PURPLE

INTROIT (Ps. 21:20, 22)

O Lord, be not far from me with Your aid; hasten to assist me. Save me from the lion's mouth, and preserve my wretched life from the horns of the unicorns.
Ps. 21:2. O God, my God, look upon me. Why have You forsaken me? far from help are the needs of my sins. O Lord, be not far from me . . .

COLLECT

Almighty and Eternal God, it was Your will that our Saviour should become man and suffer upon the cross as a model on humility for all mankind. Grant that we may follow the example of His patience and share in His resurrection. Through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord . . .

EPISTLE (Philipp. 2:5-11)

Brethren, For let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, and in habit found as a man. He humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross. For which cause, God also hath exalted him and hath given him a name which is above all names: (here genuflect) That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth: And that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.

GRADUAL (Ps. 72:24, 1-3)

You have held me by my right hand and guided me with Your counsel, and in the end You will receive me in glory.
V.
How good is God to Israel, to those whose heart is upright. But I had almost stumbled, my footing was almost gone, because I was envious of sinners, seeing their prosperity.

TRACT (Ps. 21:209; 18, 19, 22, 24, 32)

O God, my God, look upon me! Why have You forsaken me? V. Far from help are the needs of my sins. V. O my God, I cry out by day, and You do not answer; I cry by night, and You do not heed my ignorance. V. Yet You are enthroned in the holy place, the glory of Israel. V. In You our fathers trusted; they had faith and You delivered them. V. They cried to You, and they were saved; they trusted in You and they were not put to shame. V. But I am a worm, and not a man; the scorn of men, the outcast of the people. V. All who see me scoff at me; they mock me with their lips and wag their heads. V. "He hoped in the Lord; let the Lord deliver him, let him rescue him, if he loves him." V. They have looked and stared at me; they have divided my garments among them and for my vesture they have cast lots. V. Save me from the lion's mouth, and preserve my wretched life from the horns of the unicorns. V. You who fear the Lord praise him; all you descendants of Jacob glorify him. V. The coming generation shall be told of the Lord, and the heavens shall declare his righteousness. V. To a people yet unborn, creatures too of the Lord.

GOSPEL

THE PASSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

ACCORDING TO SAINT MATTHEW (26:36-75: 1-54)

At that time, Jesus came with them into a country place which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples: "Sit you here, till I go yonder and pray." And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to grow sorrowful and to be sad. Then he saith to them: "My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here and watch with me." And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying and saying: "My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will but as thou wilt."
And he cometh to his disciples and findeth them asleep. And he saith to Peter: "What? Could you not watch one hour with me? Watch ye: and pray that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Again the second time, he went and prayed, saying:"My Father, if this chalice may not pass away, but I must drink it, thy will be done." And he cometh again and findeth them sleeping: for their eyes were heavy. And leaving them, he went again: and he prayed the third time, saying the selfsame word. Then he cometh to his disciples and said to them: "Sleep ye now and take your rest. Behold the hour is at hand: and the Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise: let us go. Behold he is at hand that will betray me."
As he yet spoke, behold Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the ancients of the people. And he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying: "Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he. Hold him fast." And forthwith coming to Jesus, he said: "Hail, Rabbi." And he kissed him. And Jesus said to him:"Friend, whereto art thou come?" Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and held him. And behold one of them that were with Jesus, stretching forth his hand, drew out his sword: and striking the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear. Then Jesus saith to him: "Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels? How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done?"
In that same hour, Jesus said to the multitudes: "You are come out, as it were to a robber, with swords and clubs to apprehend me. I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple: and you laid not hands on me." Now all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then the disciples, all leaving him, fled. But they holding Jesus led him to Caiphas the high priest, where the scribes and the ancients were assembled.
And Peter followed him afar off, even to the court of the high priest, And going in, he sat with the servants, that he might see the end. And the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death. And they found not, whereas many false witnesses had come in. And last of all there came two false witnesses: And they said: "This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God and after three days to rebuild it." And the high priest rising up, said to him: "Answerest thou nothing to the things which these witness against thee?" But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said to him: "I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us if thou be the Christ the Son of God." Jesus saith to him:"Thou hast said it. Nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God and coming in the clouds of heaven." Then the high priest rent his garments, saying: "He hath blasphemed: What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy. What think you?" But they answering, said: "He is guilty of death.
Then did they spit in his face and buffeted him. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands, Saying: "Prophesy unto us, O Christ. Who is he that struck thee?" But Peter sat without in the court. And there came to him a servant maid, saying: "Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilean." But he denied before them all, saying: "I know not what thou sayest." And as he went out of the gate, another maid saw him; and she saith to them that were there: "This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth." And again he denied with an oath: "I know not the man." And after a little while, they came that stood by and said to Peter: "Surely thou also art one of them. For even thy speech doth discover thee." Then he began to curse and to swear that he knew not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which he had said: Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And going forth, he wept bitterly.
And when morning was come, all the chief priests and ancients of the people took counsel against Jesus, that they might put him to death. And they brought him bound and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing that he was condemned, repenting himself, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and ancients, Saying: "I have sinned in betraying innocent blood." But they said: "What is that to us? Look thou to it." And casting down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed and went and hanged himself with an halter.
But the chief priests having taken the pieces of silver, said: "It is not lawful to put them into the corbona, because it is the price of blood." And after they had consulted together, they bought with them the potter's field, to be a burying place for strangers. For this cause that field was called Haceldama, that is, the field of blood, even to this day. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremias the prophet, saying: And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was prized, whom they prized of the children of Israel. And they gave them unto the potter's field, as the Lord appointed to me.
And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, saying: "Art thou the king of the Jews?" Jesus saith to him: "Thou sayest it." And when he was accused by the chief priests and ancients, he answered nothing. Then Pilate saith to him: "Dost not thou hear how great testimonies they allege against thee?" And he answered him to never a word, so that the governor wondered exceedingly.
Now upon the solemn day the governor was accustomed to release to the people one prisoner, whom they would. And he had then a notorious prisoner that was called Barabbas. They therefore being gathered together, Pilate said: "Whom will you that I release to You: Barabbas, or Jesus that is called Christ?" For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. And as he was sitting in the place of judgment, his wife sent to him, saying: "Have thou nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him." But the chief priests and ancients persuaded the people that they should ask Barabbas and make Jesus away.
And the governor answering, said to them: "Whether will you of the two to be released unto you?" But they said: "Barabbas." Pilate saith to them: "What shall I do then with Jesus that is called Christ?" They say all: "Let him be crucified." The governor said to them: "Why, what evil hath he done?" But they cried out the more, saying: "Let him be crucified."
And Pilate seeing that he prevailed nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, taking water washed his hands before the people, saying: "I am innocent of the blood of this just man. Look you to it." And the whole people answering, said: "His blood be upon us and upon our children."
Then he released to them Barabbas: and having scourged Jesus, delivered him unto them to be crucified. Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the hall, gathered together unto him the whole band. And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak about him. And platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowing the knee before him, they mocked him, saying: "Hail, King of the Jews." And spitting upon him, they took the reed and struck his head. And after they had mocked him, they took off the cloak from him and put on him his own garments and led him away to crucify him.
And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up his cross.
And they came to the place that is called Golgotha, which is the place of Calvary. And they gave him wine to drink mingled with gall. And when he had tasted, he would not drink. And after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: They divided my garments among them; and upon my vesture they cast lots. And they sat and watched him. And they put over his head his cause written: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Then were crucified with him two thieves: one on the right hand and one on the left. And they that passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, And saying: "Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God and in three days dost rebuild it: save thy own self. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross." In like manner also the chief priests, with the scribes and ancients, mocking said: "He saved others: himself he cannot save. If he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross: and we will believe him. He trusted in God: let him now deliver him if he will have him. For he said: I am the Son of God." And the selfsame thing the thieves also that were crucified with him reproached him with.
Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the whole earth, until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: "Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?" That is, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" And some that stood there and heard said: "This man calleth Elias." And immediately one of them running took a sponge and filled it with vinegar and put it on a reed and gave him to drink. And the others said: "Let be. Let us see whether Elias will come to deliver him." And Jesus again crying with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And behold the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top even to the bottom: and the earth quaked and the rocks were rent. And the graves were opened: and many bodies of the saints that had slept arose, And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, came into the holy city and appeared to many.
Now the centurion and they that were with him watching Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were sore afraid, saying: "Indeed this was the Son of God."

OFFERTORY ANTIPHON (Ps. 68:21-22)

My heart hath expected reproach and misery. And I looked for one that would grieve together with me, but there was none: and for one that would comfort me, and I found none. And they gave me gall for my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Prout principal will not resign after controversial assembly

Just another day…  Another Apology…. from a heretical  CINO school principal but refuses to resign!!!!!

Another Catholic high school has apologized to “outraged” parents for a speaker who spoke on Catholic morality.

Relevant Radio’s Fr. Rocky Hoffman protested at Catholic High School
SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Kathleen Schlenz of Peace Dale knew something was wrong when her daughter, Anna, arrived home from school Friday.
The Rev. Francis “Rocky” Hoffman, a priest of Opus Dei, an orthodox division of the Roman Catholic Church, and executive director and radio host of Relevant Radio, a Catholic radio network that broadcasts on 33 stations in 13 states and online, had spoken to a school-wide assembly at The Prout School, where Anna is a junior. The speech was being taped to be broadcast on Relevant Radio at a later date.
“She was most upset about the divisive and offensive language regarding divorce, homosexuality and even adoption,” Kathleen Schlenz said. “None of the parents or faculty knew it was being taped to be aired. They were essentially held hostage and told to clap after this man’s responses to questions, even when they didn’t agree with them.”
Father Hoffman was on retreat and unavailable for comment before the Independent went to press Wednesday.
On April 10, parents received a letter of apology from Principal David Carradini since Friday. In the new letter, Carradini announced he would not resign.
“People in our community are calling for my resignation, seeing in this event the culmination of frustration with my leadership,” Carradini wrote in the April 10 letter. ”I have taken this call very seriously, deliberating with myself for days and seeking counsel from others. I sincerely believe that my resignation as Principal is not in the best interests of The Prout School. I have this discussed this option with diocesan officials and they, too, believe that I should continue in my position as the leader of our School.”
“Many have questioned why I did not stop Fr. Hoffman when I sensed things were going badly,” Carradini wrote. “I have offered three explanations to various audiences; the truth is I do not know why I did not stop him:. Though I sensed, and shared, the distress of your daughters and sons, and of the faculty, I did not see its depth, as I was in the front of the auditorium. I desperately hoped that things might right-end themselves, and in that hope I did not stop him. Parents who are crisis management professionals have instructed me after the fact in what I ought to have done. I am grateful for their guidance.”
Students discussed staging protests and pickets in response to the speech. On Monday, fliers that read “Homosexuals are bullied because of apathy. Divorced people are bullied because of apathy. Adoptive children are bullied because of apathy. Are you apathetic?” appeared around the school.
Several Prout students and alumni tweeted about the matter.
“Prout is now an unvibrant uncatholic community,” one said.
“All the good things built up by The Prout School today just came crashing down around us with that assembly,” read another.
Posts to Hoffman’s Facebook page appeared briefly, but were removed.
In an email to Carradini, Kathleen Schlenz characterized Hoffman’s comments as “cruel, condemnatory, and wholly un-Christian.” Beginning Friday, a number of parents, including Schlenz, went to Carradini with questions: Why was Hoffman asked to speak? Who approved it? Was he paid? Would the speech be aired?
Carradini referred a request for comment to the Diocese of Providence.
Friday evening, parents received an email from the school.
“My intention in inviting him here was to have a priest articulate Church teaching in a manner that was pastorally appropriate, doctrinally sound, and deeply respectful of the trust the students showed in bringing these questions forward for answer. My prior knowledge of Fr. Hoffman and his program gave every reason to expect this outcome,” Carradini wrote. “My expectations, and those of the faculty and staff, were not met, and for that I am deeply sorry. Several of the answers provided were not entirely representative of the full breadth of Church teaching on a number of complex and sensitive issues. Several members of the student body, faculty, and staff – including me – were personally offended by his manner of presentation.”
In the email, Carradini said he would “address these matters with the entire school and to apologize for the offenses caused.”
That occurred Monday, in another school-wide assembly, during which school chaplain Rev. Joseph Upton, offered an address with a more welcoming message.
“You can imagine how very upset I was on Friday morning as I watched and heard Fr. Rocky’s presentation unfold,” Upton said, according to an email regarding Hoffman’s address sent to parents. “We know that many young people in particular struggle with participation in the life of the Church. And now a presentation seemed to provide more of a reason to give up on the Church? I was angry and I was sad.”
Approximately 50 parents appeared at the assembly uninvited and met with Carradini after it finished. Schlenz was among them.
When she reached Carradini by phone Saturday, she asked what he was doing to ensure the speech would not be broadcast and was told he had spoken to a board member of Relevant Radio.
During Monday’s meeting, she asked him which board member.
“I am not prepared to answer,” Carradini reportedly said. “Why do you want to know?”
When she pressed him, Schlenz said he told the parents the board member was his brother-in-law, Joseph Cavangh Jr. of Warwick, also an Opus Dei member.
“I wanted to see how transparent he would be,” Schlenz said.
