Long-awaited papal text to be released on April 8...

Apostate Newcardinal Christoph Schonborn poses with Trannie Conchita Wurst...

Cardinal who backs progressives and tapped to present family manifesto!

ROME – In a move possibly hinting that Pope Francis will side with progressives on some contentious matters regarding family life, the Vatican announced Thursday that a keenly anticipated document from the pontiff will be released April 8 and presented by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna, Austria.

The document, technically known as an “apostolic exhortation,” is designed to draw conclusions from two tumultuous summits of Catholic bishops from around the world, called “synods,” on issues pertaining to the family held in October 2014 and October 2015.

Carrying the Latin title Amoris Laetitia, subtitled “On Love in the Family,” the document will be presented in an April 8 Vatican news conference featuring Schönborn and Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, the synod secretary, along with two Italian academics.

That press conference will be streamed live on the Vatican Radio site.

Although the Vatican did not release details about the document’s contents on Thursday, in broad strokes it’s expected to echo areas of wide agreement among the bishops during those summits, such as the need for more thorough programs of marriage preparation and the importance of supporting families trying to live the Church’s vision of married life.

However, the synods also exposed clear divisions among the bishops on three key issues:

Whether divorced and civilly remarried Catholics ought to be able to return to Communion under some circumstances.
Whether the Church needs more tolerant language to talk about gay and lesbian relationships, without altering the substance of its teaching.
Whether the Church can acknowledge positive moral values even in “irregular” relationships, such as living together outside of marriage.

During the two synods, Schönborn was seen as a leading exponent of the moderate-to-progressive position on those issues.

He was part of a German-language group, for instance, which proposed an “internal forum” solution to the question about Communion for those Catholics who divorce and remarry outside the Church.

The “internal forum” refers to private exchanges between believers and priests or bishops, generally in the context of the sacrament of confession. Although canon lawyers debate whether, and how, it could be applied to the divorced and remarried, advocates of allowing them to return to Communion generally see it as way to accomplish that on a private, case-by-case basis.
During an Oct. 26 press conference last year, Schönborn, whose own parents were divorced when he was a teenager, told reporters he felt that the synod could not recommend a clear yes or no to Communion for the divorced and remarried.

“There is no black and white, a simple yes or no,” he said, arguing that situations vary widely and so too must the Church’s response.

On the issue of how the Church talks about gays and lesbians, Schönborn also has been a champion of more inclusive approach.

“The Church should not look in the bedroom first, but in the dining room!” he said in a September 2015 interview with Civiltà Cattolica, a Jesuit-run journal in Rome.

“We can and we must respect the decision to form a union with a person of the same sex, [and] to seek means under civil law to protect their living together with laws to ensure such protection,” he said in that interview.

Schönborn spoke of a gay friend who, after multiple temporary relationships, now has a stable partner.

“They share a life, they share their joys and sufferings, they help one another,” he said. “It must be recognized that this person took an important step for his own good and the good of others, even though it certainly is not a situation the Church can consider ‘regular’.”

During the 2014 synod, Schönborn also argued that the Church can find positive moral elements in other non-traditional relationships, such as cohabitation outside marriage.

He drew an analogy with Lumen Gentium, a document of the Second Vatican Council (1962-65), which taught that there are “elements of sanctification and of truth” outside the visible boundaries of the Catholic Church.

In the same way, he suggested, there may be virtues and truth in relationships that fall short of the Church’s full vision of marriage as a permanent, lifelong union between a man and a woman open to new life.

“Who are we to judge and say that there are no elements of truth and sanctification in [those relationships]?” he asked in 2014.

Given that track record, the choice of Schönborn to present the pope’s document may be an indication of where Francis is likely to come down on those matters, at least in a big-picture sense.

It may also reflect a degree of political savvy, since despite his progressive-seeming stances on the key synod debates, Schönborn nevertheless also has solid conservative credentials.

He’s an intellectual protégé of emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, for instance, and was also the general editor of the Catechism of the Catholic Church under St. John Paul II.

A member of the Dominican religious order, the 71-year-old Schönborn is widely regarded as one of the most intellectually impressive members of the College of Cardinals, and was mentioned as a possible candidate to be pope himself in both the conclaves of 2005 and 2013.

Newchurch of Filth: Catholic priest who viewed child porn on church computers and 'took hundreds of photos of his students in erotic poses' sentenced to THREE years in prison!

“But this will be a time of great trials for the Church. Cardinals will oppose cardinals. Bishops will oppose bishops. Satan will walk in their ranks. In Rome, there will be great changes. What is rotten will fall and what will fall will never rise again. Darkness will envelope the Church and the world will be thrown into a panic.” – Our Lady of Fatima, ora pro nobis.

“Listen, you Do-Nothing superiors of clerics and priests! Listen, and even though you feel sure of yourselves, tremble at the thought that you are the partners in the guilt of others; those, I mean, who wink at the sins of their subjects that need correction and who by ill-considered silence allow them license to sin. Listen, I say, and be shrewd enough to understand that all of you alike are deserving of death, that is, not only do such things, but also they who approve of those who practice them.” - St. Peter Damien

A former Kentucky Catholic priest accused of snapping hundreds of inappropriate photos of his students has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for viewing child pornography.

Stephen Pohl, 57, pleaded guilty in January to accessing pornographic images of nude underage boys on computers at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church's office and rectory in Louisville.
Pohl was not charged for taking photographs of his parish students, who were all fully clothed. But porn was discovered on his computer after concerned parents reported him to police.
A 10-year-old St Margaret Mary student told his mother that 'Father Steve' had asked to pose for 'weird photographs' on his cell phone while he was attending an after-school club.

Pohl ordered the young boy to pose with his hands on his knees and spread his legs apart, according to the affidavit.

The boy's parents confronted the priest when they saw him out shopping in Louisville and asked to see the pictures on his phone.
When Pohl handed it over, the parents found 'several photos of other young boys posed in the same manner as their son', the affidavit states.

Investigators discovered that the pornographic images, which did not feature any children from St Mary Margaret, were never downloaded to the computer.
Forensic analysis of the computer's hard drives were able to detect the images Pohl viewed online, according to The Courier-Journal

More than 150 photos of Pohl's clothed students students, some of which constituted child erotica, were also discovered during the search, a criminal complaint states.

The US Attorney's office said students featured in the photographs are being identified and their parents are being contacted.
Pohl originally pleaded not guilty after his office was searched and he was arrested in August.

He later told authorities that some items on his computer 'probably should not be there' and admitted he had visited 'inappropriate' websites, a detective said in an affidavit.
The Archdiocese of Louisville placed Pohl, who was hired in 1985 and served at five churches in the area, on administrative leave after his office was searched. He resigned soon after.

The federal investigation in Pohl began after he was accused of taking inappropriate photos of his parish students

Pohl was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison on Tuesday and, under the terms of the plea agreement, will have to register as a sex offender following his release.

He will also be supervised by the US Probation and Pretrial Services for the rest of his life.

Pohl, who has been on house arrest at his mother's home while awaiting trial, surrendered to US Marshals following his sentencing.
The former priest said in court that he is currently working with a psychologist, who has helped him understand 'what is happening here'.
The Archdiocese of Louisville released a statement Monday saying it welcomed the news that 'Father Pohl is pleading guilty and accepting responsibility for his actions'.

But soon the archdiocese might be facing its own day in court.

Pohl was not charged for taking photographs of his parish students, who were all fully clothed. But investigators noted that some of the pictures constituted child erotic (pictured is the church's parish school)

Parents of another boy who was allegedly photographed by Pohl filed a suit against the Archdiocese of Louisville on Tuesday.

Christeena and Richard Gallahue Jr have claimed Pohl's behavior was 'so open and obvious' that the archdiocese knew or should have known he was taking inappropriate photos of children for decades, according to The Courier-Journal.

The couple claim that Christeena came upon Pohl photographing her son and daughter, then 7 and 5, on the parish steps one day as she was picking her children up from school.

Christeena claims Pohl was nervous when he saw her and told her he would send a copy of the pictures, but never did.

The mother claims she then saw Pohl taking pictures alone with another boy on the same steps at a Boy Scout banquet at a church, and once again appeared nervous when he saw her.
They reported the incident with Pohl and their son, who they said confirmed the priest had asked him to pose in unusual positions for pictures, to police after he was arrested.
The Gallahues are seeking damages for emotional stress, saying their son soon stopped wanting to go to school and has since been sent to counseling.

The Archdiocese of Louisville paid $25.7m in 2003 to 243 people who were molested as children in Catholic schools and charges, at the time the largest an archdiocese paid itself.

Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre's Legacy by His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson

          Archbishop’s Legacy – I

The Archbishop died, twenty-five years ago.
Have his successors followed faithfully? No.

Yesterday, March 25, was the 25th anniversary of the death of a great man of God, Archbishop Lefebvre, to whom so many Catholics keeping the Faith today have such a great debt. When in the 1960’s the Revolutionary demons of the modern world succeeded in bringing under their yoke the mass of Catholic churchmen either during or after the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965), it was the Archbishop who almost single-handed stood by that Catholic Truth which Catholic Authority, blinded or cowed, was abandoning. For indeed to obey that Authority given over to the principles of the Revolution, Catholics had to abandon the Truth of the Church’s unchanging Tradition. Or else, to remain faithful to that Truth, they had to enter into “disobedience” to the Church Authorities.

Of course neither the Archbishop nor the Society of St Pius X which he founded in 1970 were in real disobedience, because Catholic Authority is the indispensable servant of Catholic Truth: indispensable, because Truth without Authority is torn to pieces amid the warring opinions of fallible men, but servant, because Authority is a means and not an end, the means of protecting and preserving that infallible Truth of Christ which alone can save souls. To this immutable Church Tradition Archbishop Lefebvre remained faithful to the end, yet without scorning or defying those Church Authorities which condemned him to the end. On the contrary he did all he could have done, in fact at a given moment, on his own admission, even more than he should have done, to help them to see the Truth and serve it, for the good of the whole Church, but in vain.

That is when, to ensure the survival of the Truth of salvation, in June of 1988 he consecrated four bishops without that permission of Church Authorities which is normally necessary. They must have hoped that his proceeding without their permission would spell the ruin of his Society, but on the contrary it flourished, because by now a significant number of souls had climbed out of their pre-Conciliar “obedience” to understand that Truth has to come first, and that truthful bishops are essential to the survival of the Church’s Truth.

But what happened to the Society which he left behind him when he died two and a half years later? His Catholic wisdom and personal charisma were no longer there to protect them from the magnetic pull of pre-Conciliar “obedience,” which took the form of seemingly reasonable propositions of a diplomatic compromise between Conciliar Authority and Catholic Tradition. False “obedience,” preferring Authority to Truth, now crept back at the top of the Society from which the Archbishop had exorcised it, and within a few more years his Society was hardly recognizable as its misleaders went to Rome, cap in hand, begging for official recognition from the Church Authorities.

Now Truth has no right to put itself in a position of begging for anything from a group of liars – “Catholicism is Revolutionary” is a dreadful lie – but the Society’s misleaders, then and now, justified their humiliating of Truth by appealing to the Archbishop’s example. For years, they said, he went down to Rome seeking official approval of the Society, and they were doing nothing else. But what might have seemed similar was in reality quite different. While they were going down to Rome in pursuit of some political agreement, by which, as became clear at the latest in the spring of 2012, they were ready to compromise doctrine, on the contrary the Archbishop only ever went down to Rome for the good of the Faith and the Church. For him the official approval of the Society by Church Authority was only ever a means to help that Authority back towards Tradition and Truth, and when that Authority in the spring of 1988 demonstrated once and for all its refusal to look after Tradition, then the Archbishop broke off all negotiations and diplomatic contacts, and roundly declared that they would only resume when Rome returned to doctrinal Truth. In fact the Archbishop’s successors had never understood him. And today? See next week’s “Comments.”

Kyrie eleison.

YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP! U.S. mother spends $7,000 on a trip to France so she can marry HERSELF!!

GOD DEFINES MARRIAGE... NOT MAN!!!

U.S. mother spends $7,000 on a trip to France so she can marry HERSELF - in a romantic ceremony under the Eiffel Tower!

  • Beautiful Existence, 42, from Seattle, went to Paris to marry herself
  • Spoke vows she'd written herself in a ceremony beside the Eiffel Tower
  • Believes that everyone should commit to themselves before anyone else
The bride, who works in social media and marketing, wore a casual white dress and trainers, and recited vows that she had written to herself as an officiant oversaw the ceremony via Skype - as she couldn't find anyone in France to do so in person.

Now the mother-of-two is encouraging others to marry themselves ahead of her first anniversary in June 2016.
'It was hugely emotional,' Ms Existence said. 'Looking at myself on that screen as I Skyped the officiant, saying exactly what I wanted to say to myself was soul-shifting.
'I believe everybody should self-marry before they even marry anyone else. It allows you to drop that pressure of having to have somebody else with you in order to be successful.

'I'd recommend it as much as I'd recommend being a parent, because the level of love you'll feel is something you can't describe until you do it.'
Ms Existence was previously married for ten years and has two sons - Edge, 16 and Epic, six. During that time, friends would confide in her that they thought she had lost her spark.
They told her she 'wasn't herself' when she was married, and questioned what had happened to the independent, optimistic woman they knew. A painful divorce then left her wondering if traditional marriage was for her.

She was further discouraged when she met a new partner and they decided to cohabit but not marry, only to find he wasn't right for her either.
She discovered self-marriage on social media and spoke to other women who had done it.
'After years of exploring different theories on how to understand myself, self-marriage felt right,' she said.
'Why couldn't I have a fun, fantastic ceremony the way that I wanted it to be without somebody else's approval?

Beautiful believes that the current norms around marriage and long-term relationships don't fit in with and honour who she am as a person

'The current norms around marriage and long-term relationships just don't fit in with and honour who I am as a person. Before I get into any kind of relationship, I needed to commit to myself first.'
Within a month of finding out that self-marriage was an option, Ms Existence decided to have a ceremony herself.

Her heart set on Paris, she set about finding a dress, photographer and inviting friends to the ceremony before jetting out in June last year. She picked her wedding date to coincide with her birthday.
'I wanted it to all be one big adventure,' she explained. 'I figured if I was honouring myself, there was no point in picking a date at random.'
On 10th June 2015, under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower with a bouquet in hand, Ms Existence married herself, reciting vows similar to the ones she had said at her first wedding years previously.
She said the experience was life-changing, and has completely freed her from the pressure of finding a partner.
She explained: 'The highest measurement of success society pretty much has is whether or not you're in a couple, but it shouldn't be that way.

Beatiful picked the wedding date to coincide with her birthday, as she wanted the date to be meaningful to her
Beautiful picked the wedding date to coincide with her birthday, as she wanted the date to be meaningful to her

'It's like we're programmed to be in couples, but it's not a measure of success. A measure of success is loving yourself, and if you can do that, you come into a relationship as a better person.
'I don't worry at all about being in a couple now.'
Currently, self-marriage is not legally recognized. However, Ms Existence believes that this won't always be the case.
'It's not like I'm going to get a marriage certificate. Nobody recognizes it right now, unfortunately, but I do think that's something that will be on the horizon,' she said.

Beautiful says that unfortunately self-marriage isn't recognised right now, but that she hopes it will be on the horizon soon

'There are a lot of people - women especially - who are not subscribing to the regular definition of marriage anymore.'
Since announcing her marriage, Ms Existence said people's reactions have been positive, save for a few who don't really understand the concept.
Her two sons have been especially supportive.
'Both my boys are wonderful children. I'm very blessed,' she said.

Beautiful is pleased that her children are supportive of her decision and that accept that she doesn't subscribe to normal life protocol. She says that her 16-ear-old son has a lot of diverse friends so is a balanced soul

'My six-year-old is too young to be anything but supportive. I talked things through with my eldest, but he's used to the fact that his mum doesn't subscribe to normal life protocol.
'I mean, I have a Mohawk. My name is Beautiful Existence.
'Plus, he has a lot of friends that are very diverse so he's a really balanced soul.'
Now, she is looking ahead to her first anniversary, when she plans to get a tattoo on her ring finger to celebrate.
Currently, she occasionally wears a ring but would prefer something more permanent.
'Sometimes, people don't know how to take the idea that I'm married to myself,' she said.

'But that's because we've had this notion that you're only worthy if you have somebody drummed into us.

'What we need to realize is that we all already have somebody - we have ourselves.'

TUESDAY IN HOLY WEEK

                 TUESDAY IN HOLY WEEK

Today, again, our Savior sets out in the morning for Jerusalem. His intention is to repair to the temple, and continue his yesterday's teachings. It is evident that his mission on earth is fast drawing to its close. He says to his Disciples: You know that after two days shall be the Pasch, and the Son of Man shall be delivered up to be crucified.
On the road from Bethania to Jerusalem, the Disciples are surprised at seeing the fig-tree, which their Divine Master had yesterday cursed, now dead. Addressing himself to Jesus, Peter says: Rabbi, behold, the fig-tree, which thou didst curse, is withered away. In order to teach us that the whole of material nature is subservient to the spiritual element, when this last is united to God by faith, Jesus replies: Have the faith of God. Amen I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain: Be thou removed and cast into the sea! And shall not stagger in his heart, but believe, that whatsoever he saith shall be done, it shall be done unto him? Having entered the City, Jesus directs his steps towards the Temple. No sooner has he entered, than the Chief Priests, the Scribes, and the Ancients of the people, accost him with these words: By what authority dost thou these things?

And who has given thee this authority that thou shouldst do these things, we shall find our Lord's answer given in the Gospel. Our object is to mention the leading events of the last days of our Redeemer on earth; the holy Volume will supply the details. As on the two preceding days, Jesus leaves the City towards evening: he passes over Mount Olivet, and returns to Bethania, where he finds his Blessed Mother and his devoted friends.

In today's Mass, the Church reads the history of the Passion according to St. Mark, who wrote his Gospel the next after St. Matthew: hence it is, that the second place is assigned to him. His account of the Passion is shorter than St. Matthew's, of which it would often seem to be a summary; and yet certain details are peculiar to this Evangelist, and prove him to have been an eye-witness. Our readers are aware that St. Mark was the disciple of St. Peter, and that his Gospel was written under the very eye of the Prince of the Apostles.

In Rome, the Station for today is in the Church of St. Prisca, which is said to have been the house of Aquila and his wife Prisca, to whom St. Paul sends his salutations, in his Epistle to the Romans. In the 3rd century, Pope St. Eutychian had translated thither, on account of the sameness of the name, the body of St. Prisca, a Virgin and Martyr of Rome.

Three days hence, and the Cross will be lifted up on Calvary, bearing upon itself the Author of our Salvation. The Church, in the Introit of today's Mass, bids us at once pay our homage to this trophy of our victory, and glory in it.

INTROIT

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ; by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

Ps. May God have mercy on us, and bless us: may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and may he have mercy on us.

EPISTLE

Jeremiah 11: 18 -20

In those days: Jeremias said: Thou, O Lord, hast shewed me, and I have known: then thou shewedst me their doings. And I was as a meek lamb, that is carried to be a victim; and I knew not that they had devised counsels against me, saying: Let us put wood on his bread, and cut him off from the land of the living, and let his name be remembered no more. But thou, O Lord of Sabaoth, who judgest justly, and triest the reins of the heart, let me see thy revenge on them; for to thee I have revealed my cause, 0 Lord, my God!

THE PASSION AND GOSPEL

Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to St. Mark

Mark 14:1-72; 15:1-46

Now the feast of the pasch, and of the Azymes was after two days; and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might by some wile lay hold on him, and kill him.  But they said: Not on the festival day, lest there should be a tumult among the people. And when he was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper, and was at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of precious spikenard: and breaking the alabaster box, she poured it out upon his head.

Now there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said: Why was this waste of the ointment made? For this ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her. But Jesus said: Let her alone, why do you molest her? She hath wrought a good work upon me.  For the poor you have always with you: and whensoever you will, you may do them good: but me you have not always.

She hath done what she could: she is come beforehand to anoint my body for burial. Amen, I say to you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which she hath done, shall be told for a memorial of her. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them.

Who hearing it were glad; and they promised him they would give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him. Now on the first day of the unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the pasch, the disciples say to him: Whither wilt thou that we go, and prepare for thee to eat the pasch? And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith to them: Go ye into the city; and there shall meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water, follow him;  And whithersoever he shall go in, say to the master of the house, The master saith, Where is my refectory, where I may eat the pasch with my disciples?  And he will shew you a large dining room furnished; and there prepare ye for us.

And his disciples went their way, and came into the city; and they found as he had told them, and they prepared the pasch.  And when evening was come, he cometh with the twelve. And when they were at table and eating, Jesus saith: Amen I say to you, one of you that eateth with me shall betray me.  But they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one: Is it I? Who saith to them: One of the twelve, who dippeth with me his hand in the dish.

And the Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed. It were better for him, if that man had not been born.  And whilst they were eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing, broke, and gave to them, and said: Take ye. This is my body.  And having taken the chalice, giving thanks, he gave it to them. And they all drank of it. And he said to them: This is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many. Amen I say to you, that I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I shall drink it new in the kingdom of God.

And when they had said an hymn, they went forth to the mount of Olives. And Jesus saith to them: You will all be scandalized in my regard this night; for it is written, I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be dispersed.  But after I shall be risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.  But Peter saith to him: Although all shall be scandalized in thee, yet not I. And Jesus saith to him: Amen I say to thee, today, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shall deny me thrice. But he spoke the more vehemently: Although I should die together with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all.  And they came to a farm called Gethsemane. And he saith to his disciples: Sit you here, while I pray.  And he taketh Peter and James and John with him; and he began to fear and to be heavy.  And he saith to them: My soul is sorrowful even unto death; stay you here, and watch.  And when he was gone forward a little, he fell flat on the ground; and he prayed, that if it might be, the hour might pass from him.

And he saith: Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee: remove this chalice from me; but not what I will, but what thou wilt.  And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping. And he saith to Peter: Simon, sleepest thou? couldst thou not watch one hour? Watch ye, and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.  And going away again, he prayed, saying the same words.  And when he returned, he found them again asleep, (for their eyes were heavy,) and they knew not what to answer him.
And he cometh the third time, and saith to them: Sleep ye now, and take your rest. It is enough: the hour is come: behold the Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of sinners.  Rise up, let us go. Behold, he that will betray me is at hand.  And while he was yet speaking, cometh Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve: and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the ancients.  And he that betrayed him, had given them a sign, saying: Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; lay hold on him, and lead him away carefully.  And when he was come, immediately going up to him, he saith: Hail, Rabbi; and he kissed him.

But they laid hands on him, and held him.  And one of them that stood by, drawing a sword, struck a servant of the chief priest, and cut off his ear. And Jesus answering, said to them: Are you come out as to a robber, with swords and staves to apprehend me?  I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not lay hands on me. But that the scriptures may be fulfilled.  Then his disciples leaving him, all fled away.

And a certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and they laid hold on him. But he, casting off the linen cloth, fled from them naked. And they brought Jesus to the high priest; and all the priests and the scribes and the ancients assembled together.  And Peter followed him from afar off, even into the court of the high priest; and he sat with the servants at the fire, and warmed himself. And the chief priests and all the council sought for evidence against Jesus, that they might put him to death, and found none.

For many bore false witness against him, and their evidences were not agreeing.  And some rising up, bore false witness against him, saying: We heard him say, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another not made with hands. And their witness did not agree. And the high priest rising up in the midst, asked Jesus, saying: Answerest thou nothing to the things that are laid to thy charge by these men?

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him: Art thou the Christ the Son of the blessed God? And Jesus said to him: I am. And you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and coming with the clouds of heaven.

Then the high priest rending his garments, saith: What need we any further witnesses?  You have heard the blasphemy. What think you? Who all condemned him to be guilty of death.  And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him: Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.

Now when Peter was in the court below, there cometh one of the maidservants of the high priest. And when she had seen Peter warming himself, looking on him she saith: Thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.  But he denied, saying: I neither know nor understand what thou sayest. And he went forth before the court; and the cock crew. And again a maidservant seeing him, began to say to the standers by: This is one of them.  But he denied again. And after a while they that stood by said again to Peter: Surely thou art one of them; for thou art also a Galilean.

But he began to curse and to swear, saying; I know not this man of whom you speak. And immediately the cock crew again. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said unto him: Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt thrice deny me. And he began to weep. And straightway in the morning, the chief priests holding a consultation with the ancients and the scribes and the whole council, binding Jesus, led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.  And Pilate asked him: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, saith to him: Thou sayest it. And the chief priests accused him in many things. And Pilate again asked him, saying: Answerest thou nothing? behold in how many things they accuse thee.  But Jesus still answered nothing; so that Pilate wondered.

Now on the festival day he was wont to release unto them one of the prisoners, whomsoever they demanded.  And there was one called Barabbas, who was put in prison with some seditious men, who in the sedition had committed murder.  And when the multitude was come up, they began to desire that he would do, as he had ever done unto them.  And Pilate answered them, and said: Will you that I release to you the king of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up out of envy.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas to them. And Pilate again answering, saith to them: What will you then that I do to the king of the Jews? But they again cried out: Crucify him.  And Pilate saith to them: Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more: Crucify him.  And so Pilate being willing to satisfy the people, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
And the soldiers led him away into the court of the palace, and they called together the whole band: And they clothe him with purple, and platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon him.  And they began to salute him: Hail, king of the Jews. And they struck his head with a reed: and they did spit on him. And bowing their knees, they adored him.  And after they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own garments on him, and they led him out to crucify him.

And they forced one Simon a Cyrenian who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and of Rufus, to take up his cross.  And they bring him into the place called Golgotha, which being interpreted is, The place of Calvary.  And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh; but he took it not. And crucifying him, they divided his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.  And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And the inscription of his cause was written over: THE KING OF THE JEWS. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.  And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith: And with the wicked he was reputed.  And they that passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying: Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God, and in three days buildest it up again;  Save thyself, coming down from the cross.

In like manner also the chief priests mocking, said with the scribes one to another: He saved others; himself he cannot save.  Let Christ the king of Israel come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.  And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole earth until the ninth hour.  And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani? Which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  And some of the standers by hearing, said: Behold he calleth Elias.

And one running and filling a sponge with vinegar, and putting it upon a reed, gave him to drink, saying: Stay, let us see if Elias come to take him down. And Jesus having cried out with a loud voice, gave up the ghost.  And the veil of the temple was rent in two, from the top to the bottom.  And the centurion who stood over against him, seeing that crying out in this manner he had given up the ghost, said: Indeed this man was the son of God. And there were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joseph, and Salome:

Who also when he was in Galilee followed him, and ministered to him, and many other women that came up with him to Jerusalem.  And when evening was now come, (because it was the Parasceve, that is, the day before the sabbath,)  Joseph of Arimathea, a noble counsellor, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.  But Pilate wondered that he should be already dead. And sending for the centurion, he asked him if he were already dead.  And when he had understood it by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

And Joseph buying fine linen, and taking him down, wrapped him up in the fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewed out of a rock. And he rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.
