Meet the newest Philippine comic book hero – it’s no other than Pope Francis!
The Pope, who is due to visit the Philippines this coming January, is getting the comic book treatment from the Communication Foundation for Asia.
“(It is a) commemorative edition that would inspire the youth to emulate the life and ministry of the Holy Father,” CFA said on its blog site.
Dubbed “A Pope Named Francis: A Pope for the Poor… A Man of Mercy and Compassion,” the comic book is in accordance with the Pope’s visit on Jan. 15 to 19, CFA added.
CFA said the comic book presents Pope Francis “as a model on how to transform the Catholic social teachings in action.”
The comic book has different stories in Philippine setting with quotes from Pope Francison the following themes:
call for the youth
life and dignity
call to family, community and participation
solidarity
dignity of work
rights and responsibilities
option for the poor and vulnerable
care for God’s creation
The 36-page comic will come out in English and Filipino versions, CFA said.
