Shimon PERES AND PRINCE HASSAN TO POPE FRANCISCUS
BRUSSELS (KerkNet / Kath Press) – Pope Francis is next Thursday, during separate meetings, talks with former Israeli President Shimon Peres and the Jordanian Prince Hassan ibn Talal. The Vatican gives no explanation of the content of the conversations. But undoubtedly greater attention to the situation in Gaza and the fate of the Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
Former President Peres traveled earlier this year along with the leader of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas to Rome for a peace prayer at the invitation of Pope Francis. The Jordanian Prince Hassan ibn Talal is an important mediator for dialogue between the Vatican and the Islamic world. He is also one of the leading figures of the dialogue between Christians and Muslims. The prince is also a member of the International Crisis Group, a consultative body for the resolution of international conflicts.From 2000 to 2006 he led the ‘Club of Rome’.
